Funeral Services celebrating the life of Mr. Delton Hearn, 86, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 30th at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Monroe, LA. Rev. Gene Bryson, Rev. Dick Humphries, and Rev. Tim Hearn will be officiating the service. Interment will follow at the Chatham Cemetery in Chatham, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LA.
Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 1:30 P.M. at St. Paul’s Church.
Mr. Hearn passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at St. Francis Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was a native of Chatham La, where he graduated from Chatham High School. He attended ULM, before working in the building material business. He was the owner of Midland Building Materials and Turpin’s Buy Rite.
His life was devoted to his family and his faith. He was a longtime member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, where he taught Men’s Sunday School class for many years. He served as district President of the United Methodist Men, along with serving in various other committees in the church.
He loved the outdoors, especially his farm where he raised cattle and horses and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be remembered as a loving and generous husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Elbert and Ina McCarty Hearne of Chatham, LA; brother Doug Hearne of Springhill, LA; brother and sister-in-law Earlon and June Hearn of Monroe, LA; brother-in-law Kenneth Johnson of Monroe, LA; nephew Buddy Hearne of Benton, LA; nephew and niece Gary and Annette Johnson of Monroe, LA; niece Nancy Hearne of Chatham, LA
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Betty Wilder Hearn; daughter, Debbie Stout; and son-in-law, David of Hattiesburg, MS; daughter, Holly McCallie and son-in-law, Steven of Fort Worth, TX; sister, Franceil Johnson of Monroe, LA; sister, Louceal Simmons and brother-in-law, Gene of West Monroe, LA; sister-in- law, Mary Hearne of Springhill, LA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Delton as pallbearers will be Bill Thurston, Rick Hearne, Joey Bales, Jonathan Edwards, Douglas Edwards, and Allen Snelling. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Hearne, Bill Hearne, Bob Hearne, Dr. Ed Coates, Rev. J. Roddy Taylor and Jason Roberts.
The Family is deeply grateful to his compassionate caregivers: Denise Jenkins, Loretta Finley, Joyce Reed, Pamala Jackson, Miracle Jenkins and Nick Robinson. Their dedication and care brought support, kindness and comfort to Delton and his family.
Memorials may be made to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church or Methodist Children Home in Ruston.
