Delton “Blackie” F. SmithFuneral services for Delton “Blackie” F. Smith, 80, of Monroe, Louisiana, will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, January 5, 2015, at Lakeshore Baptist Church of Monroe with Rev. William Smith and Rev. George Marshall officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe.Mr. Smith passed away peacefully at his home on January 2, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Smith served in the United States Air Force for four years. Upon his return from service he began a lifelong career as a salesman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and raising beagle dogs. After retirement he enjoyed raising quail and working in his garden. He was also a long time member of Rowland Road Baptist and Lakeshore Baptist Churches. Delton “Blackie” Smith was preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey E. and Bertie Smith; brothers, J.W. and Billy Smith; one sister, Odean Smith DeSidere; and one beloved son-in-law, Mark Reynolds. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Joyce Barton Smith; his children, Danny Smith and wife Kathy, Kim Reynolds Cathey and husband Tom, and Brad Smith, all of Monroe; five grandchildren, Colby Reynolds and wife Nikki, Chelsy Smith DeMers and husband Patrick, Kale Reynolds, Eli Smith and Leah Grace Smith; one great grandchild, Alexa Kay Reynolds; one brother, Aubrey E. Smith, Jr.; three sisters, Audrey Varner, Catherine Misiak and Margaret Kyle; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers will be Aubrey Smith III, Terry Brown, Michael Stamper, Scott Stamper, Casey Barton, Norris Price, Buddy McGuffee, and Clay Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be Harland Marshall, Don Estep, Curtis Butler, Doug Wheelington, Travis Sayers, Barney Tucker, David Wheeler, and Bobby Stone. David and Bobby are serving in honor and memory of their fathers, James Wheeler and Reverend E. Lowe Stone. Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM, Sunday, January 4, 2015, in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, Louisiana.
