David "Dave" Thompson

Funeral services celebrating the life of David “Dave” Thompson, 70, of Downsville, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, December 22, 2022, in the Feazel Chapel at First Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Jason McGuffie and Jimmy Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until service time on Thursday at the church.

David “Dave” Thompson passed away on December 18, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Dave grew up in West Monroe attending school, developing his love for sports, playing for West Monroe Rebels and then following them as a supportive alumnus. West Monroe is where he spent most of his life raising his children until following his dream of moving to Lake Darbonne.  Dave worked over 40 years in the industrial sales industry, where he impacted so many by his intelligence of the business. What he loved most about his job was the relationships he developed in multiple states with having created long-lasting friendships. He was known for showing up and always having a bag of peanuts for everyone.   Dave was most well-known for his love for his family and friends, fishing, and spending time with his wife Angie, kids, and grandkids on the lake. Known as Pappy to his grandchildren, he created a legacy of loving life and all the simple things in life such as gatherings at the lake, picking his guitar, cooking for his friends, fishing, and always playing his good music loud on the porch to be spread for the whole lake to hear. His motto in life and what he said often was “Have fun and it’s only weird if it doesn’t work”.

Dave is survived by his wife, Angie Thompson; mother, Doris Thompson; siblings, Glenda Thompson and Carey-Joe Thompson (Michelle McIntosh); his children, Denver Thompson (Courtney), Savannah Ray (Michael), Haley Williams (Cole), and Brandon Estep (Kelly); grandchildren, Demi and Chloe Thompson, Porter and Thompson Ray, Thomas Ray and River Williams, and Kase and Katelyn Estep; brothers-in-law, Larry Phillips (Susan) and Keith Phillips (Lynn); nieces, Angela Dupree (Rawls), Chelsey Phillips, and Kylie Berry; nephews, Trenton Thompson, B.J. Phillips (Jessie), and Logan Phillips (Brooke); great niece, Ainslee Dupree; and great nephew, Tripp Dupree.

Pallbearers will be Michael Ray, Cole Williams, Brandon Estep, Korry Eubanks, and Rawls, and Tripp Dupree.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jimmy Mitchell, Jim Slaughter, Bunky Crenshaw, Robert Welch, and Chris Nolan.
