Memorial service for Mr. David Lee Gibson, 77, of Calhoun, LA, will be held at 11:00AM Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church with Celebrant Rev. Paul Thudurparampil, Co Celebrant Rev. Al Jost, and Deacon Michael Mocek officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Rosary service will be held at 10:30AM Saturday prior to the service. Interment will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021, at Seymour Catholic Cemetery in Seymour, TX.
Mr. Gibson was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, where he served on the Parish Council and formerly served as president. Mr. Gibson was stationed at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, with the Fifth U.S. Army Band, was Principal Bassoonist in the Monroe, Lake Charles, South Arkansas, Rapides, Marshall Symphony Orchestras and performed with the Shreveport and Longview Symphony Orchestras. Mr. Gibson retired from the ULM Music Department after 40 years as an Associate Professor.
Survivors include wife, Marilynn Gibson; children, Greg Gibson and Misty of McGehee, AR, Stephanie Jaeger and husband Will of Grandview, TX, and Jonathan Gibson of Lemont, IL; grandchildren, Alayna Gibson, Gage Gibson, Thomas Jaeger, Frankie Jaeger, and Jack Jaeger; brother, Laurence Gibson of El Paso, TX; and sister Marion Gibson of Louisville, KY.
Honorary pallbearers will be Joe Bernal, Dr. Rick Cavell, Don Kneipp, and Richard F. LeBrun, Jr.
