David L. Posey, Sr.,
Funeral services for David L. Posey, Sr., 73, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, February 22, 2019, in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA with Pastor Lisa Thomisee Mayo and Rev. Norman Bryant officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until service time on Friday.
Mr. Posey was a 1964 graduate of Neville High School. He also attended Northeast Louisiana University for 31/2 years. He worked for Selig Manufacturing Company as a Sewing Machine Maintenance Supervisor for 20 years. He also worked for James Standard & Associates as an Electrical Designer for 18 years and retired in 2007 for health reasons.
David was a member of the Archibald First Baptist Church in Archibald, LA. He was a member of the Monroe and West Monroe Moose Lodge for 41 years holding numerous offices on the local state and international levels and achieving the individual honor of the Pilgrim Degree of Merit. He was an avid hunter and fisherman before his health declined and prevented him from doing so. He enjoyed watching sports, especially football.
David was born December 18, 1945 in Monroe, LA, and passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at his residence, after a lengthy illness.
Mr. Posey is preceded in death by his parents, John David “J.D.” and Esther Lee Orr Posey; brother, John M. Posey; and sister, Sandra K. Giddens.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Shelia Thorn Posey; son, David L. Posey, Jr. and wife, Cary Ann Carver Posey; son, Clinton J. Posey and wife, Erin Kazmaier Posey; grandchildren, Chelsea Posey Richards and husband Tyler, Zachary Posey and Reagan Posey; great-grandchildren, Talan Richards and Dash Richards; Sisters, Betty Thomisee, Glenda Jones, Maydell Rea and husband Don, and Judy Copeland and husband Billy Ray; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearer will be Josh Polk, Jason Thomisee, John Lawson Flanigan, Mark Jones, Billy Copeland and Lames (Jimbo) Posey.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to Dr. James Dean Stockstill, M.D and staff for the love and care they provided during the years of David’s illness.
