Funeral Services for Mr. David L Massey, 83, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at Cypress Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Dr. Bob Holloway, Rev. Chad Ballard and Rev. Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow at Cypress Baptist Church Cemetery, West Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, LA. Mr. Massey was born July 8, 1933 and passed away August 6, 2016. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years of service and was a long time member of Cypress Baptist Church. Mr. Massey had a love for southern gospel music and enjoyed gardening, woodworking and traveling. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Lee Massey and Climmie Hightower Massey; brothers, Virgil Massey and Verlon Massey; and sisters, Nezzie Massey Baker, Helen Massey and Robbie Massey Gregory. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Norma Waggoner Massey; sons, Ken Massey and wife Lisa, and Ronald Massey and wife Donna; daughter, Connie Carr and husband Jerome; grandchildren, Steven Reeves and wife Kristie, Jeremy Carr and wife Cary, Kendra Massey Valadas and husband Mikhael, Chad Massey and Morgan Carr; great grandchildren, Kaylee Reeves, Mackenzie and Grace Carr; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Glenn Varner, Chris Waggoner, Ricky McGrew, David Wallace, Mikhael Valadas and Kegan Dick. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Adult II Sunday School Class, Verlon Massey, Jr., Odie Gregory and Jeri Dowdy. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at Cypress Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA. Memorials may be made to the Senior Adult Fund at Cypress Baptist Church.
