Funeral services for Mr. David Kerwin McMillan will be held at 11:00AM Monday, May 10, 2021, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Graveside service to follow at 3:00PM Monday at Herringville Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello, LA. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until service time at time Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. McMillan was born in Monroe on September 24, 1951and passed away at his home on May 7, 2021. He worked and retired as a Juvenile Probation Officer. Mr. McMillan was an active member of North Monroe Baptist Church.
Mr. McMillan was preceded in death by his parents Velma B. McMillan of Monroe, LA, and Edwin V. McMillan of McComb, Mississippi; his in-laws Leroy and Alvern Griffin of Monroe, LA; and his nephew Chance Melville of St. Joseph, LA.
Survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 32 years, Sherri McMillan; his son, Daniel A. Sledge, III (Mary) of Marion, LA; his nephew he considered as a son, Richard Anders (Lynne) of Sterlington, LA, grandchildren, Caleb Sellers (Mallory) of Haughton, LA, Landon Sellers (Annie) of Sterlington, LA, KayLee Edwards (Wesley) of Gonzales, LA, Allen Anders of Sterlington, LA, Shelby Anders of Sterlington, LA, and Logan, Evan, and Ethan Richardson of Monroe, LA; two great-grandsons, Brayden and Mason Sellers of Haughton, LA; sister, Deborah K. Fowler of West Monroe, LA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Renee’ Melville of Shreveport, LA; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Rodney and Linda Griffin of Ringgold, LA; along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
Pallbearers include Rodney Griffin, Mark Melville, Allen Anders, Ronnie Bryant, Kim Crow, and Jon Richardson. Honorary pallbearers are the members of the Greg and Nancy Manley Life Group at North Monroe Baptist Church and great nephew, John Hunter Gregory of Shreveport, LA.
A special thanks is extended to the staff of LA Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Brandi Canalas who gave exceptional and loving care to David during his final days.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
