Funeral services for Dana Carolyn Grafton Zimek, 20, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Bernice, LA with Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Dana was born July 19, 1987 in West Monroe, LA and passed away on May 25, 2008. Dana was the 2004 Homecoming Queen of Bernice High School. She loved spending time with her step daughters and her niece and nephews. Dana was an active member of the 528 Platoon and was a Specialist 1st Class with the Army National Guard. She traveled to many places while working the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. She will be missed by everyone. Dana is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother, Margaret Lester.
Dana is survived by her husband, Charles Zimek; step daughters, Brieanna and Gracie Zimek; mother, Carol Grafton and father, Sam Grafton; brother, Daniel Grafton and wife Sheree; grandparents, Rudy and Annette Grafton and William Peter Lester; mother in-law, Wanda Welch and husband Mickey; sister in-law, Felicia Smith; niece and nephews, Tyler, Ian, and Kaden Grafton and Morgan and Luke Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Otwell, Heath Fuller, Kyle Nation, Matt Townes, Brandon Thomas, Kendal Keith, John Cook, and Andrew Cook.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM Friday night until 9:00 AM Saturday morning at Pine Grove Baptist Church. There will be a private family time from 9:00 AM until service time on Saturday, May 31, 2008.
