Cynthia Denise Murray’s influence significantly shaped the landscape of social services in Louisiana and the individual lives of the clients, families, communities and people she knew. From missionary to CEO, Cindy poured her life into helping “the least of these” and the healers who serve them. Cindy was a devoted believer in Christ and that belief propelled her into a life of service to her community.
She earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northeast Louisiana University, was an alumni of Leadership Louisiana, and a school board member of Geneva Academy,
Cindy was born on August 31, 1965, grew up in Dodson, Louisiana, and passed away Friday, July 27, 2018, at the University of Arkansas Medical Sciences in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Cindy was the CEO of The Center for Children and Families, Inc., a state-wide non-profit agency dedicated to promoting safe, healthy environments for children and families through advocacy, counseling, education and prevention.
Cindy was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Murray; mother and father, Janet and Steve Sharp; and brother, Stevie Sharp.
Cindy is survived by her nine-year-old son, Jackson Graham Murray; brother, Kasey Conley; nephew, Christian Conley; and numerous like-family friends.
Pallbearers will be Dr. Matthew Thornton, Dr. Ryan Rana, Dr. Andrew Dodson, Dr. Curtis Eberts, Dr. Trent Langhofer, Danny Sidders, Zach Dasher, and Jeff Jenkins.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 29, 2018, from 4:00 PM-7: 00 PM at the White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ at 3201 North 7th Street, West Monroe, LA.
A memorial celebration service will be held at the church on Monday, July 30, 2018, at 10:00 AM with a shared meal to follow. Alan Robertson will officiate the service. Graveside service will be at 2:00 PM Monday at Transport Cemetery, Dodson, LA.
