A funeral mass for Mr. Curtis Joseph Chaplin will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 7, 2016 at Saint Matthew Catholic Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. Fr. Job Scaria Edathinatt CMI officiating. Interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park.
Mr. Chaplin was born on June 5, 1928 to Felix and Ozelia Chaplin. He passed away on November 4, 2016 after a long illness. He is preceded in death by his parents Felix and Ozelia Chaplin and his son Paul David Chaplin.
He is survived by his wife Helen Chaplin and son Chris Chaplin. Mr. Chaplin had many sisters and brothers and other relatives.
Mr. Chaplin served in the U.S. Army at the time of the Korean War. He took up boxing during his service in the army and it remained his passion for the rest of his life. He worked for a long time as a truck driver and salesman for Falstaff Beer. He was also active as a Little League coach and a Little League pitching coach. He volunteered with his son Paul David Chaplin on many projects with the disabled. He was a mall walker and enjoyed watching boxing, football, and baseball.
The family would like to thank Mr. Chaplin’s cousin Chris Smith and his family for helping to care for him during his illness and being there when needed. Mr. Chaplin thought of Chris as a son. The family would also like to thank the nurses, doctors, and staff at the Louisiana Extended Care Hospital at Glenwood in West Monroe for the loving care they gave Mr. Chaplin during his final days.
Visitation will be on Sunday, November 6, 2016 from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Sterlington Road Monroe, LA with a vigil being held at 6:00 P.M.
