Creola Oglesby (Ricki) Green With her late husband, Jack Green, Sr.
Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA
Graveside services for Creola Oglesby (Ricki) Green, 88, of Monroe, LA will be held Monday, June 1, 2009, at 2:00 PM at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Mr. Carlos Brown officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Ricki was born October 23, 1920 in Colfax, LA and passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2009. She was a retired school teacher who taught for over 30 years at Louisiana State Industrial School for Girls in Pineville and Louisiana Training Institute in Monroe.
After retiring from teaching, Christian Community Ministries was Ricki’s calling for over 24 years. She put herself into the ministry 100% and desired the same of all volunteers. Those who came for assistance had a deep respect for her and knew she would be sensitive to their needs and treated fairly. They soon learned that she would “go the extra mile” in applying the CCM rules regarding assistance. Ricki will be greatly missed by the entire staff of volunteers, but her faithful presence will be felt as they continue to serve CCM.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ernest Jack Green, Sr.; parents, James Iley and Mary Ourelia Oglesby; daughter-in-law, Gloria Stovall Green; four brothers, and two sisters.
Survivors include her sons, Jack, Jr. and Greg and wife Sharon; grandsons, Matt and wife Maria, and Josh and fiancée Annsley; granddaughter, Jennifer Leigh; great-grandsons, Kevin, Jacob, and Connor James Green; many nephews and nieces, and with a special thanks to her surviving sister, Kitty Oglesby Murray, in her devotion to her sister.
There was nothing she loved more than spending time with her family or pulling a White Perch Slab out of the treetop. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Pallbearers will be Johnny Portman, Robert Coats, Pat Mabray, Paul Peters, Alfy Gallagher, Billy Anders, and Mike Guidry.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Christian Community Ministries, P O Box 143, Monroe, LA 71210.
