Funeral services for Constance (“Connie”) Louise Humble of Monroe, LA will be held Saturday, February 22, 2025. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. at Mulhearn Funeral in Monroe (2308 Sterlington Rd, Monroe, LA 71203), and the funeral will follow at 2 p.m., with Rev. Ricky Baker officiating. A private family celebration of Connie’s life will take place after the services.
Connie entered into the presence of the Lord February 18, 2025. Her living relatives include her father, Jack Humble, her sister, Jodi Humble Perry, her brother-in-law, Dr. Tim Perry, her two nieces: Katie Phillips and Ali Patsley, her nieces’ husbands: Johnny Phillips and Philip Patsley, her great nieces: Juliana Phillips, Eva Cate Phillips, Gabriella Phillips, her great nephew, Duke Patsley, and a host of beloved family members and friends.
Connie is now reunited with those who preceded her in death, including her beloved mother, Lucy Humble, and many adored aunts, uncles, family members, and friends.
There will never be another soul quite like her. Anyone who was blessed with the privilege to know her understands that her life was defined by the joy within her. It was something that no illness ever had the power to take away or corrupt. Her joy was defiant, even when her circumstances were difficult. Connie’s legacy will impact generations. She knew abundant love, and she knew hope. No matter how bad she felt or how sick she was, she rarely - if ever - complained. Smiles seemed to come more easily to her than frowns. Encouragement more often crossed her lips than critiques. She showed her friends and family that it’s ok to cry, but it’s better to laugh. She loved deeply and without holding back.
God displayed His overwhelming love for Connie and the people around her in ways that they can scarcely describe or even comprehend. Connie loved her sister, Jodi dearly. She depended on Jodi not only for physical care at the end of her life, but she relied on her throughout her life as her big sister, friend, and trusted confidant. Connie adored her father, Jack. Her mother, Lucy, was her rock. Lucy and Connie are now reunited, and there is no doubt that shouts of joy thundered through heaven when Connie entered glory and saw not only her Lord, but her mother as well.
She was an incredible aunt to her two nieces, who will remember her for her big smile, her contagious laugh, and the way she made the most boring of outings a trip to remember. They’ll both forever aspire to be the kind of aunt to each other’s children that their Aunt Connie was to them.
Connie loved the Lord, and she loved people. For Connie, making friends was easy. She genuinely loved everyone who crossed her path. She loved to hear their stories. She made friends everywhere she went and had no problem talking to strangers about anything. She saw the good in people, and she was excited to just talk to people about anything.
For many years, a framed poster has hung in Connie’s room, on the wall that faces her bed. The poster contains an image of a runner: mid-stride, he presses on towards the finish line. Below him are the words of Isaiah 40:31: “But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.” These words of the Lord were before her every night before she fell asleep, and on the day she breathed her last. Multiple sclerosis may have taken away her ability to walk for much of her life, but because of her faith in Jesus, she will not only walk, but she will “run and not grow weary.” She is healed, whole, and victorious. Now, and for all eternity, she will walk, run, and dance with her Savior and the saints.
