Constance C. “Connie” Rhodes, 88, of Monroe, LA passed from this life on October 16, 2020. Connie was a retired insurance clerk who had worked many years in the medical field. Although small in stature, she was known by those who loved her for her strong determination and huge heart for giving. Having overcome great adversity in her own life, she loved to help others in need. She had a gift for knowing who needed what and how to get it to him or her. If you truly needed it, she would not hesitate to give you her last dollar.
Connie, proud to be a “leap year baby”, was born on February 29, 1932 in Brockton, MA. She was the loving mother of Henry “Hank” Kane, Thomas Kane (Alison), Victoria Kane, and John Kane (Annette); devoted grandmother of Stephanie Faison (Steven), Alicia Kinney (Michael), Jefferson Pilcher, Emily Landry, and Chloe Landry; great grandmother of Scott Kane Jr. and Gabriel Kinney. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Joanna Phinney; nieces, Michelle Langlais and Suzanne Botelho (Robert); great nephew, Anthony Botelho and great niece, Isabella Botelho. She also leaves behind her special cousins up north and her dear friends.
Connie was the daughter of the late Thomas “Tony” Jaruse and Victoria (Savilonis) Marshall. She was also preceded in death by her brother, John Phinney, and grandson, Scott Kane.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all who cared for her over the past few months, notably the doctors and staff of Glenwood Regional Medical Center in West Monroe, LA and KPC Promise Hospital of Vicksburg, MS.
Due to health concerns, a private memorial service to celebrate her life and honor her memory will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to either the Ouachita Parish Humane Society Adoption Center or River Cities Humane Society for Cats, both of which she donated to regularly.
