Funeral Services for Mr. Clyde Spencer “Buck” Lee, 91, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 29, 2012 at First United Methodist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Jon Tellifero and Rev. Ted Freeland officiating.  Interment with Masonic and Military Honors will follow in the Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Spencer was born on July 18, 1921 and passed away on November 26, 2012 in West Monroe, LA, with his family by his side.  Spencer graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in 1938 and attended Northeast Louisiana Junior College.  He joined the U. S. Army on July 15, 1942, where he served in the 232nd Infantry Regiment, 42nd Rainbow Division.  He participated in the Theater of Operations, US, Europe.  Spencer was awarded the following medals: American Campaign Medal, Victory Medal, Liberation of France Medal (2 Stars), Purple Heart, Two Bronze Stars, Army of Occupation (Austria-Germany), European African Middle East Campaign (3),and Good Conduct Medal.  In 2012, by a decree signed by the President of the French Republic, he was named a “Chevalier” of the Legion of Honor.  He was retired, self-employed insurance claims adjuster. Spencer was a member of the First United Methodist Church of West Monroe, LA, 50 year member of the West Monroe Masonic Lodge #419 and a charter member of Barak Shrine Legion of Honor.  He was also an active member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 331.  He was devoted to God, country, his loving wife and family.  He enjoyed family activities and the outdoors.  

He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Ora Basey Lee; his parents, Neva Jane and William James Lee and brother, Billy Lee.

Survivors include his four daughters, Pam Buttitta and husband, Jackie, Liz Street and husband, Charles, Becky Lee, Cindy Chelette and husband, Curtis; ten grandchildren, Natalie Raines and husband, Danny, Tommy Street and wife, Rachel, Joey Buttitta, Glen Street and wife, Laura, Troy Littlefield and wife, Marcee, Sarah Roberson, Chuck Street and wife, Ashley, Forrest Street, Christi Chelette Blakeney and husband, Justin, Cory Chelette; twelve great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Mr. Lee’s Grandsons will serve as Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Barak Legion of Honor. 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children’s Hospital, First United Methodist Church or to the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans Home
