Funeral services for Clyde Smitherman, 79, of Ouachita Parish, will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, December 17, 2019, in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, in West Monroe, LA., with Bro. Jeff Luellen, and Bro. Norman Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Calhoun, La, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Clyde was born on January 30, 1940, to Alvin and Ruby Smitherman, and passed away on December 13, 2019.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Bro. Clyde, as he was affectionately known by many, was a soul winner and greatly loved the Lord. He served as a member at First Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA. Known as a family man, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, also known as “gramps”, by his grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother, and friend to many. An avid football fan, he loved the LSU Tigers, and the Dallas Cowboys.
His is preceded in death by parents, Alvin and Ruby Smitherman; and brothers, Danny and Michael Smitherman.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 45 years, Mary Smitherman; sons, Calvin and wife, Vicky Golden, Paul and wife, Cindy Golden, both of West Monroe, LA, Marc Murdoch of Riverside, CA; daughter, Paula Golden, of West Monroe, LA; grandchildren, Kristy, Dusty, Daniel and wife, Emily, Lindsey, Corey, and Major; great grandchildren, Ledger and Griffin; and twin brother, Calude Smitherman, of Longview, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be, Calvin Golden, Paul Golden, Marc Murdoch, Dusty Golden, Daniel Golden, and Bruce Knight.
Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Monday, December 16, 2017 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
