Graveside Services for Clyde M. Washer, Jr. 71, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00PM Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Northeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Rayville, Louisiana with Brother Luke Powell officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Clyde was born on June 4, 1951 and went to his heavenly home on August 19, 2022 after a lengthy battle from complications due to Agent Orange exposure. After graduating from West Monroe High School, he enlisted in the United States Army where he proudly served his country during the Vietnam War.
Upon being honorably discharged from the Army, Clyde went to work at General Motors – Guide Plant where he worked for 32 years before retiring to spend his time doing what he was truly passionate about, hunting and fishing. The highlight of his life was spending time with his grand children who loved to work in Papaws Shop and help with the garden.
Clyde was a force of nature, determined to provide for his family and give them the life he felt they deserved. His family meant more to him than anything else in the world, something he often mentioned. He never met a stranger he didn’t like and would willingly give the shirt off his back to help.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Maude Washer; and daughter, Lisa Mae Washer.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife and best friend of 42 years, Laura, his daughters, Deanna Toney (Aaron), and Caitlin May (Jeffery); son, David Washer (Jennifer); grandchildren, Axel, Landry, Easton, Kayla, Drake, Maegan and Chloe; sister, Suzanne Jeane (Kenny); brother, Todd Washer (Jill); and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family would personally like to thank Dr. David Dies, Dr. Coy Gammage, Heather Finley, FNP, Kimberly Hawkins, NP, Dr. Brian Levatino and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for the loving way they took care of Clyde during his illness.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home in Monroe.
