Cloyd Taylor Harris, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather has passed away at 92 years of age; his life was filled with love of God, his family and his country.
Graveside services will be held at 6:00 P.M. Monday, September 17, 2007 in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Calhoun, La. with Rev. Gordon “Skip” Dean officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, La.
Born May 7, 1915 in Memphis, TX, he moved to Monroe in 1967 where he has resided with his wife of 68 years, Dixie Beth Moore Harris. He served 4 years in North Africa during World War II and was a 50 year employee of United Gas Pipeline; a member of the Highland Baptist Church in West Monroe, where he was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.
He was preceded in death by his father, John T. Harris and his mother, Birdie Taylor Harris; and his brother, John T. Harris, Jr.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dixie Beth Moore Harris; daughter and son-in-law, Cathi June and Arden O. French, Jr.; two grandchildren, Ginger F. Shemwell and husband, David Clay Shemwell, Robert L. French and wife, Lori B. French; and three great grandchildren, Virginia Blair Shemwell, Harris Edward French and Charlie Elizabeth French; two nephews, John T. Harris, Jr. and Danny O. Harris.
Our family extends a special thanks to the aides and staff at The Oaks; Patient’s Choice Hospice; Dr. Mark Dollar and staff for their commitment and care to Mr. Harris.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials are made to the American Cancer Society.
