Funeral Services for Mr. Clayton Dodd, 78, of West Monroe, LA, will be 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at WFR Church in West Monroe, LA, with David Brumley, Mike Kellett and Don DeLukie officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Mr. Dodd was born September 30, 1943 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 1, 2022. He was a member of WFR Church and the West Monroe Rebel Club. In his earlier years, he coached baseball. Clayton retired after 40+ years from Graphic Packaging. He enjoyed coffee with the boys, traveling, hunting, fishing, bowling, wood working, nurturing his Bluebirds and Martins, watching baseball and football, especially LSU and West Monroe High School. Clayton also enjoyed collecting memorabilia of coke, miniature cars, Nascar, and anything related to West Monroe High School. His favorite activity was loving his kids, grandkids, and his great grandson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Celia Simpson Dodd and Ethram Dodd; brother, Norman E. Dodd; niece, Kathy Parks; brother-in-law, Wendell Parks; nephew, Eric Dodd; father-in-law, B.J. Green; and mother-in-law, Sarah Gulley Green.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Barbara G. Dodd; two children, Patti Hearn (Richy), and James Kevin Dodd (prospective fiancée Robin Mears); sister, Ruth Parks-Breedlove; three grandchildren, Lauren Hearn Ratcliff (Wes), Eliana Swaim, Ryan Hearn; great grandson, Ryker Ratcliff; sister-in-law, Sandy McKissick; brother, James Green (Anne); sister-in-law, Sue Dodd; adopted son, Todd Harper, who seems to always be there when he is needed, special thanks to JoAnn and Bill Harper for sharing their son with us; as well as a host of nieces, nephews; and amazing neighbors, Harold and Christine McGrew.
Pallbearers will be Harold McGrew, Todd Harper, Stan Hayden, David Burdeaux, Charles Many, Steve Smith, and Richard Antley.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jerry Wilson, Bill Harper, Jimmy Myers, Tommy Haye, and Clayton’s Bluebirds and Martins that he faithfully housed, fed, and protected.
Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, at WFR Church.
