Clayton B. "Scotty" Barnes

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Clayton B. “Scotty” Barnes, 89, of Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Monday, May 15, 2023, at Lakeshore Baptist Church in Monroe, LA with Rev. William Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA., under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Mr. Barnes died May 10, 2023, at St. Francis Medical Center in Monroe, LA after a brief illness.

Mr. Barnes was very active in Lakeshore Baptist Church in Monroe, LA, serving as a deacon and Sunday School teacher for many years. He received his B. S. Degree in Forestry from Stephen F. Austin University, and retired from Riverwood International in 1995 following a lifetime career in forestry. He served his country as an MP in the United States Army from 1956-58 and in the National Guard from 1958-61.

He was a loving Father and Husband, and to his family was an unwavering example of what a Christian man should be – humble, patient, kind and genuine in character.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Mary Frances Barnes.

Survivors: his wife of 67 years, Mrs. Wilma B. Barnes; 3 Sons, Scott Barnes and his wife, Lori, Steve Barnes and his wife, Sharon, and Sam Barnes and his wife, Addie; Grandchildren, Angela Lain, Dan Barnes, Cody Barnes, J. T. Barnes, Meghan Barnes, Austin Barnes and Kyle Troxel; Great Grandchildren, Sabrina Wilkerson, Peyton Lain, Branson Barnes, and Bryson Barnes; Great Great Grandchildren, Harper and Rylee Wilkerson.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Austin Barnes, Cody Barnes, J.T. Barnes, and Kyle Troxel, as well as Glen Bennett and Doug Self of Lakeshore Baptist Church. Honorary pallbearers are the Deacons and Men’s Sunday School class of Lakeshore Baptist Church.

Memorials may be made to Lakeshore Baptist Church or Louisiana Baptist Childrens Home.
