A homegoing service for Clara Eva Sikes, age 92, of Winnsboro will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 2:00 PM at the First United Pentecostal Church in Winnsboro, with Bro. Floyd Hawthorne, Bro. Mark Powell, and Bro. Don Kincaid officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until time of service. Interment will follow in Providence Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro.
Eva was born to the union of Henry and Evon Hawthorne on April 18,1926 in Epps. On September 19, 1948, Eva married Rev. J.D. Sikes, the love of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a brother Louis Hawthorne, and a sister Juanita Halbrooks.
Eva’s greatest loves were her Lord, her family, quilting, gardening, singing, and cooking. Our favorite part was the cooking!
She is survived by her son, Don Kincaid and his wife Mary, and her daughter, Wanda Hill and her husband Ken.
Her siblings, Willie Lea Peoples, Jessie V Townsend, James (Chubby) Hawthorne, Doris Sebold, Joyce Heath, A.J. Hawthorne, Martha Yeats, and Helen Davis.
Lovingly known as “our NeNe” she leaves behind 4 grandsons, Kendan Hill, Brent Armstrong, Justin Hill, and Carey Johnson. Also, 3 great granddaughters, Lily Hill, Rylie Hill, and Evie Armstrong, her NeNe’s namesake.
Eva is also survived by her church family and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Her pallbearers will be Kendan Hill, Brent Armstrong, Justin Hill, Ken Hill, Mitchell Arnold, Gary Robinson, Marvin Cruse, and Bob Temple.
