C.L. "Boots" Pilcher, Sr.

Charles “Boots” Lester Pilcher, Sr., 89, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2024. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 25, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA, with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe. Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Boots was born on September 5, 1934, to Clifton and Leslie Pilcher in Choudrant, LA. After graduating from Choudrant High School in 1952, he began working for the Illinois Central Railroad in Shreveport.

In 1955, he met Frankie Moore, and they wed on October 6, 1956, going on to have two sons, Charles and Kim.

Boots was an Army veteran, stationed in Germany during the late 1950’s. He then worked many years for the Illinois Central, Gulf South Railroad, retiring in 1991. He and his wife Frankie loved spending their free time traveling, and collecting antiques to sell in their antique business. Boots never met a stranger, striking up conversations with people everywhere he went. He cherished his family and was a devoted father and grandfather. Because of his devotion, he leaves his family with a legacy of cherished memories. 

Boots was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton and Leslie Pilcher, and wife Frankie. He is survived by sons, Charles Pilcher, Jr. and wife Heather, Frank Kim Pilcher and Karla Robertson; grandson, Jeff Pilcher and Melissa Ford; granddaughters, Jade Bass and husband Tyler and Ashton Bruce and husband Adam; great-granddaughter, Faylee Kate Bruce; two brothers, Alton and Doyle Pilcher; sister, Devon Pilcher; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Puckett, Paul Ledford, Morgan Breard, Danny Pringle, Steve Cook, Gary Cook, Dean Mailhes, and Chris Greer. The honorary pallbearer will be Gene Ford.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Northeast Louisiana War Veterans’ Home in Monroe, LA.
