Cindy Collier Taylor

Cynthia Louise Collier Taylor, age 64, daughter of Gene and Ann Collier, was born August 23, 1958, in Canyon, Texas. Cindy departed her earthly body to be with Jesus on October 2, 2022, at her home in West Monroe from the effects of ALS. She resigned from her job as choir teacher in December of 2020 because she could no longer sing. Now she can join in singing praise to the Lord along with the angelic choir.

A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, at 2:00 PM at Highland Baptist Church in West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Tuesday, October 4, 2022, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe. Burial will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Cindy was first a Christian. Her faith was in Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord. She lived a life devoted to Him. This was made evident by her involvement and service in the church, as well as a personal life consistent with her faith. She graduated with a master’s degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Afterward she served full-time on the staff of College Place Baptist Church in Monroe, and part-time at Highland Baptist Church in West Monroe. She served as a minister, sang, and did a host of other things related to the church. She enjoyed teaching and during her ministry taught youth, college students, adults, ladies, and last taught preschoolers in Sunday School. She loved people and wanted them to know her Savior the way she did. Her service to the Lord also included teaching choir and Bible at Northeast Baptist School in West Monroe. Serving the Lord was truly her heart.

Cindy was proudly a Texan. She grew up in the panhandle of Texas and always thought of herself as a Texan, even though she had lived in Louisiana for decades. She was an enthusiastic Longhorn football fan, which you could tell by looking at her car and her wheelchair. You would see her wearing shirts from her collection of Longhorn shirts. You might have even heard her say, “Hook ‘em!”

Cindy deeply loved her family and was equally loved and cherished by them. She loved and supported her husband and daughter who received top priority from her. Time spent with extended family at holidays, reunions, vacations, and just visiting was always greatly anticipated and enjoyed. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Stan Taylor; daughter, Abbie McDonald (Logan); mother, Ann Collier Cox; two sisters, Sandra Cox (Greg) and Caron Collier; special daughter, Kim Book; 3 nieces and 3 nephews. Cindy’s departure has left a big hole their hearts, but many happy memories as well. She was met at the pearly gates by her father, Gene Collier.
