Christina Marsala ZagoneFuneral mass celebrating the life of Christina Marsala Zagone, 97, of Monroe, will be held at 2:30 PM, Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at St. Matthews Catholic Church with Rev. Job Edathinatt Scaria and Deacon Scott Brandle officiating. Interment will follow at the St. Matthews Mausoleum, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe, LAMrs. Zagone died Friday, July 1, 2016 at Avalon Nursing Home.Mrs. Zagone was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and the Altar Society, Progressive Men’s Club, Columbus Social Club, and she and her husband operated Zagone Grocery Store in Monroe for 24 years. Mrs. Zagone was preceded in death by her father Joe Marsala of Palermo Sicily, Italy and mother Mary Orso Marsala of Caccamo, Italy; husband, Victor Zagone; Three brothers; and two sisters.Survivors include sons, J.C. Zagone and wife Debbie; Victor Zagone Jr. and wife Pam; daughters, Vita Jean Maxwell and husband Travis; Mary Jo Wike and husband Gary; brother, Joe Marsala Jr.; ten grandchildren, Cathy Cagle, Deborah Sturtivant (Eddie), Tina Wilkinson, Vicki Zagone, Travis Maxwell, Jr., John C. (Jay) Zagone, Jr. (Janene), Jason Russell (Donna), Wendy Wike, Daphne McGuire and Kimberly Stroud; 20 great grandchildren; 17 great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Travis Maxwell, Jr., Jay Zagone, Jason Russell, Steve Danna, Joseph Cernigliaro and Frank Marsala. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd. Monroe.
