Funeral services for Chester Alton Drummond, 76, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, October 16, 2016, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA, with Rev. Aaron Dickerson, Pastor Robert Alton Drummond and Rev. Troy J. Dennard officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Drummond entered into the arms of the Lord Thursday, October 13, 2016, at St. Francis Medical Center, Monroe, LA.
Noble Chester Alton Drummond, fondly known as “Al”, entered Masonry on March 3, 1983, at Western Star Lodge, serving as Master in 1990. He plured with Walker George Lodge on November 11, 2004 and served as Master in 2006. He joined the Scottish Rite in September 1983. One of his proudest moments was when he received his White Hat on November 12, 2005. He was a Barak Shriner since November 1983. He served as Chief Aide to several Potentates, and he served as the Treasurer of the Circus Committee in 1990 and 1991.
Al was a member of Eastside Baptist Church, where he served as a devoted youth Sunday School teacher, an active member at Swartz First Baptist Church, and a member of Louis Autonberry Sunday School class. He worked for Commercial Credit, Ford Motor Credit, and the later retired as an Insurance Agent with Allstate.
Al was preceded in death by his parents, James Jewel and Verna Edna Mason Drummond; siblings, James Clifton Drummond, Lille Faye Drummond Jennings, and Billy W. Drummond.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Sandra Tarleton Drummond; son, Robert Alton Drummond and wife Donna; daughters, Mary Ann Drummond Helms and husband Jimmy, Christy Diane Drummond Dorsey; grandchildren, McKynzie Blake Dorsey and Tina Marie Irons; and three great grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be the Masons, members of the Scottish Rite, and the Shriner’s.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the nurses and doctors at the MICU Unit at St. Francis Medical Center.
