Charlotte Amelia Parham Craft passed away on January 10, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was born November 4, 1941, in Mangham, Louisiana to Beryl Stark and Alvin “Pink” Parham. She attended University High on the campus of Louisiana State University and went on to attend LSU as an undergraduate and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
Charlotte enjoyed spending time with family and friends in Houston but would always return to her beloved family home and farmland in Mangham, Louisiana. Her roots in Louisiana and at LSU ran deep – she met her husband, Fielding Baron Craft, at U High, as both of their fathers were professors at LSU. She and Baron attended LSU together and remained avid LSU fans for life. Charlotte was so pleased and proud that her daughter, Sharon, and granddaughters, Anna and Sydney, all graduated as Tigers! She had a group of loving and loyal girlfriends from UHigh/LSU who made yearly trips and had much fun laughing and reminiscing. She loved her Kappa Kappa Gamma sisters and supported the Houston Alumnae Association raising funds to support local charities. Charlotte and Baron loved traveling, experiencing the cultures and cuisines of almost 40 different countries over a lifetime of trips. She generously shared this love of travel with her grandchildren, from Alaska to New York City.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 64 years, Fielding Baron Craft; her son, Fielding Baron Craft, Jr. and wife, Lori Dawne Craft; daughter, Claudia Craft Oelman and husband, David Palmer Oelman; daughter, Sharon Craft Cote and husband, Kevin Wayne Cote; two granddaughters, Anna Renee Huthnance and Sydney Cole Huthnance; and grandsons, Fielding Baron “Trey” Craft, III; Kyle Armand Cote, Keaton Wayne Cote, and Konner Stark Cote; and great-grandchildren, Tara Grace Cote and Kace Armand Cote; sister, Carmen Parham Butts and husband Michael J.; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
A celebration and memorial of Charlotte’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at Alto Baptist Church, 2296 LA-15. Reception will follow the burial at Baron and Charlotte’s home at 540 Main Street, Mangham, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to the LSU Foundation, designated for the A. P. “Pink” and Beryl Parham Memorial Scholarship Fund, Attn: Jon Carr, 102 J. Norman Efferson Hall, Baton Rouge, LA 70803.
There will be a memorial service in Houston, Texas, at a later date.
