Arrangements under tA celebration of life service for Charlie Thomas “Tommy” Griggs, Sr. 68, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday May 9, 2016 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA with Paul Stephens and Mike Kellett officiating. Interment will be in Chatham Cemetery in Chatham, LA.Tommy died while doing what he loved most, fishing, on May 5, 2016 on Darbonne Bayou.Tommy was a retired as an electrician from Graphic Packaging Plant 31 in 2005. He was a member of the IBEW Local #490. Tommy was a lifelong member of Hoods Mill Hunting Club in Chatham and a member of Louisiana Sportsman Paradise. Even though Tommy was retired, he still enjoyed working on various projects at his barn for himself and anyone who needed help. He loved being outdoors and spending time with his grandchildren. He was an 11 year prostate cancer survivor. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas R. Griggs, Sr. and Virginia Mae Griggs; brother, Ronny G. Griggs; grandson, Zachary Thomas Griggs. Survivors: Wife, Diane Griggs; Sons, Petey Griggs and wife, Buffy, Darren Griggs and his companion, Kathy Raborn; Step-son, Danny Harkness and wife, Catherine; Grandchildren, Maegan Griggs and fianc Brad Sylvester, McKenzie Dandridge, Carrie Griggs, and Tristan Griggs; Brothers, Larry Griggs and wife, Robin, Ricky Griggs and wife Judy, and Jr. Griggs; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.Pallbearers will be David Austin, Sam Diamond, Jeff Pearson, Jeff Peshoff, Brad Camp, Larry Rogers, and Clay Nelson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Todd Cummings and Mickey Urban.Visitation will be from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. Sunday at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LAMemorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.The family would like to give special thanks to the Ouachita Parish Sheriff’s Department Marine Division, Wildlife and Fisheries Divisions, Todd Cummings, Tadd Gates, and Joe Willis, for helping our family bring Tommy home to us.
