Charles Coleman Thompson

A graveside service for Mr. Charles “Charlie” Coleman Thompson, 77, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Loch Arbor Baptist Church Cemetery in Monroe, LA, with Rev. William Sike officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA.

Charlie was born July 13, 1947, in West Monroe, LA and passed away at his home in Swartz on November 19, 2024

Charlie was a proud Marine, awarded with a purple heart and bronze star and served in the Vietnam war.

After the war, he made his way back home to work for the family business for years at Thompson Tree Service. As seasons in life changed, the love of heavy equipment called him to the oil field in Texas. Louisiana pulled his heart back to Monroe for permanent roots at Columbian Chemical then International Paper where he retired after 19 years of service.

A true Marine and tougher than most, his most prized precious possessions were his wife of 54 years, Sylvia “Patricia” Thompson; his daughter, Crystal and son-in-law, Richard Tate.

The true joy of his life was his two grandsons, Garrett and Heath Paris.

Charlie loved to hunt, fish, engineer projects and really loved a good mule.

To know Charming Charlie was to love his laughter, storytelling and joking ways. A special thank you to his Coffee Club for your years of friendship and always lending a helping hand and to “Little” Jim Lynch (wife Barbara) that he loved like a son and all the years of laughter they shared.

To the Brinson nephews he loved you all.

Thank you for years of loyalty and brotherhood to Tommy Simms and all the VA gang.

Other survivors include his sister-in-law, Nancy Dewitt; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Charles is preceded in death by his son, Charles Coleman Thompson, Jr., and his three-legged best buddy, Thunder.
