Memorial services celebrating the life of Charles David Martin, 91, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Faith Methodist Church in West Monroe with Rev. Jon Tellifero officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.
Charles David was born on September 24, 1933 in Bastrop, Louisiana, the only child of Charlie Louis and Lillian Turner Martin and he was called home by his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 12, 2025.
Charles was a graduate of Louisiana Tech with a degree in Engineering. He also graduated from Penn State with a degree in Meteorology. He served as a weather forecaster in Alaska for four years while he served in the military. Charles’ greatest love was the church, the choir, his family, and his home. He was also an avid outdoorsman who loved to work in his yard. Charles loved participating and watching any and all sports but most of all golf and tennis.
Mr. Martin retired from Ford, Bacon, and Davis in 1989 after many years of dedicated service. Then he and Hope moved to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas where they made many wonderful friends and memories. He loved and enjoyed the visits of children and grandchildren in the years that they lived there. In 2002, they moved back to West Monroe and renewed many of their old friendships and made even more. God is so good and blessed Charles with a long and prosperous life with his family. We give God the praise and glory for all of his many blessings to our family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Lillian Martin; his son, David Louis Martin; daughter, Lisa Martin Edwards; and grandson, Daniel Sayko.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Hope Smith Martin; stepsons, Matthew Coleman and his wife, Linda and Timothy Coleman and his wife, Sonya; seven grandchildren, Stacy Sullivan and her husband, Ric, Kristy Robertson and her husband, Jason, Phillip Coleman, Stephen Coleman and his wife, Laura, Bethany Coleman, and Jade Coleman Griggs; and four great grandchildren; as well as many friends, family, and loved ones.
Memorials may be made to Faith Methodist Church Myanmar Mission.
