Graveside Funeral Services for Mr. Charles Joseph Pitarro, 83, of Monroe, LA, will be 11:30AM Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA, with Deacon Bill Goss and Fr. Paul Thunduparampil officiating. The United States Navy and The Ouachita Parish Fire Department Honor Guard will provide honors. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mr. Pitarro was born September 18, 1936 and passed away on August 19, 2020. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Mr. Pitarro proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was hired by the Ouachita Parish Fire Department on March 15, 1967. Mr. Pitarro was promoted on October 5, 1967 to driver, August 25, 1968 to Captain, November 17, 1986, to District Chief. He retired on March 16, 1992.
Mr. Pitarro is preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Kitchens Pitarro; parents, Joseph Frances Pitarro, Sr and Mary E. Pitarro; sisters, Mary Frances Russo and Rita Ann Roberts; and brothers, Salvatore Pitarro and Joseph F. Pitarro, Jr.
Survivors include his daughter, Karla Marie Zeagler; grandchildren, Tommy Charles Ashing, Benjamin Zeagler, and Kerri Zeagler; three great-grandchildren; sister, Ninaette Maria O’Bier (Don); brothers, Steven Pitarro and Michael Pitarro; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
Pallbearers will be District Chief David Trichel (ret.), Deputy Chief Ron Dialy, District Chief John Wells, Captain David Lehne (ret.), Captain Chuck Hunter, Captain Steve Descant, Captain Lynn Honeycutt, and Driver, Kyle Tolson. Honorary Pallbearers will be member of the Ouachita Parish Fire Department.
