Charles Jasper Archibald

Charles Jasper Archibald, 80 of Delhi, LA passed away on January 21, 2020 in Monroe, LA. He was a native of Northeast Louisiana where he proudly reared his family.
Charles was born in Archibald, LA, on September 6, 1939, and spent his early years in Richland Parish growing up on his father’s dairy farm. He attended grade school in a small one room schoolhouse in Archibald, LA, where his mother, Julia, was the teacher.
Charles was known by most as “Charlie Jack”, and had an outgoing personality that was loved by many. He had a kind heart and a sense of pride that was evident in his actions. He helped others whenever he could and worked hard to provide for his family.
He graduated from Mangham High School in 1957. He attended college earning his BA and MBA from Northeast Louisiana University, (now ULM). He furthered his education by graduating from banking school at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, LA.
After college, Charles married Judy Clark of Monroe, LA, in 1965 and they had two sons, Chuck and Keith. He worked at Ouachita National Bank in Monroe, LA, until he moved with his family back to Richland Parish to serve as Vice President at Richland State Bank in Rayville, LA, Charles finished out his professional career working at Isle of Capri and Diamond Jack’s Casinos in Vicksburg, MS, until his recent retirement.
In 2001, Charles married Jean Lott Adams of Winnsboro, LA. While actively serving as members of the Union Presbyterian Church, Charles and Jean enjoyed helping throughout the community. They spent time together with friends while mentoring and growing their family.
Charles proudly served in the United States Army with active tours in the US and in Vietnam. Charles served as an officer in the Monroe Optimists Club, Monroe Rotary Club, Rayville United Methodist Men, and the Rayville Kiwanis Club.
Charles is preceded in death by his son, Chuck Archibald, mother Julia Belle Barmore Archibald, and father, Earnest Josiah Archibald. He is survived by his wife Jean Archibald, son, Keith Archibald, daughter in law, Krista Archibald, grandson, Matthew Archibald, granddaughter, Mackenzie Archibald, stepchildren, Beverly Williams and husband, Rockie, Barbara Ferrington and husband, Mickey, Bill Anderson and wife, Sandy, Brenda Ellington and husband, Noble Ellington, Jr., Carla Beth Anderson and Cliff Mosley and a host of step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins, and dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2PM Friday, January 24th, in the chapel at Mulhearn’s Funeral Home in Rayville, LA. Interment will follow at the Lynn Cemetery in Archibald, LA. Visitation will be prior to the funeral services from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Mulhearn’s Funeral Home on Friday, January 24, 2020. Pallbearers will be Keith Archibald, Bob Archibald, Lynn Smith, Don Smith, Andy McBroom, and Ike McBroom.
