Funeral services for Charles Homer Mayo of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 20, 2021, at Apostolic Restoration Church in West Monroe, LA, with Pastor Nathan Thornton officiating. Interment will be in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Saturday at Apostolic Restoration Church.
Charles Homer May was born January 18, 1933 and passed away February 12, 2021. Homer was a barber for over 60 years having shops in Olla, Urania, Monroe, and West Monroe. His favorite hobbies were deer hunting, fishing, and turkey hunting, and having many fond memories of family and friends at the deer camp.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Peggi Lord Mayo; his parents, John Thomas Mayo and Tommie McVay Mayo; brothers, J.T. Mayo, Rev. Everette ‘Shorty’ Mayo, and Adren ‘Blu’ Mayo; sister, Ruby Boothe; and son-in-law, Lanny A. Franks.
Survivors include his two daughters, Diane Tidwell and husband Eddie of West Monroe, and Pamela Franks of West Monroe; two sons, Jeff Mayo and wife Debi of Farmerville, and Brian Mayo of West Monroe; one sister, Jo Nobles of Jena; three brothers, Rev. David Mayo of Monroe, Billy Mayo of Jena, and James Mayo of West Monroe; eight grandchildren, Brad Tidwell and wife LaShay, Justin Tidwell wife Melissa, Kyle Mayo, Casey Cox and Wife Emily, Caleb Franks and wife Lisa, Colby Mayo, Jana Franks, and Hannah Mayo; and nine great grandchildren, Kinley, Bentlee, Channing, Asher, Lakelyn, Issac, Thompson, Chandler, and Cassie. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
