Funeral services for Mr. Charles Emmett Jackson, 85, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, November 6, 2017 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA with Rev. Terry Ware officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 12:30 PM prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday.
Mr. Jackson was born November 1, 1932 in Baskin, Louisiana and passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 following a lengthy illness. He was a plumber by trade and retired after working for more than 45 years.
Charles was a very devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He and his beloved wife Margie were married fifty-one years, and he missed her dearly. He adored spending time with Margie, his boys, and grandchildren. He also loved the outdoors, tent camping, and weekends spent at the hunting and fishing camps. In his later years he was affectionately known for taking long naps and watching his favorite show, The Price is Right. His family thoroughly enjoyed his home cooked meals, especially his famous red beans and rice. Another family favorite was his tomato gravy and biscuits which his boys fought over. Charles perfected his culinary skills while serving in the army as a cook during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Specialist E-4.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, William Thomas and Ida Glass Jackson; wife, Margie Nell Jackson; sisters, Ethel Coronado, Gracie Evans, Myrtle “Shag” Cumpton, and Ella Dean; and brothers, “Rawson” Jackson and “Bunker” Jackson.
Left to cherish his memory are his three sons, Kevin Jackson and wife Tanya, Kerry Jackson and wife Pamela, and Wade Jackson and wife Charlotte; eight grandchildren, Tyler Jackson, Austin Jackson and wife Anne Marie, Taylor Brooke Jackson, Landon Jackson, Hailey Trichell and husband Jeffery, Tye Lutrick and wife Katie, Ethan Lutrick, and Savannah Phillips; three great grandchildren, Emma Lutrick, Avery Lutrick, and Olivia Jackson.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Dean, Danny Dean, Mitchell Dean, Toby Liner, Jimmy Simmons, Robbie Simmons, Eddie Stewart, and Glen Bob Thompson.
