Funeral services for Charles “Charlie” Edward Smith of Swartz will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Sept 13, 2015, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Monroe with Rev. Norman Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.Charlie had numerous jobs throughout his life once as a printing press operator, a job at Brown Paper Company and once hauled dynamite. Charlie’s dream job though was that of being a Riverboat Captain. We don’t know if it was the job itself or the chance to fish all along the gulf that he loved. Charlie had a love of fishing and he got joy out of taking family and friends fishing. He was not only an avid fisherman but a duck and deer hunter as well. Even though he had been in bad health the last ten years of his life, and could no longer hunt, he had a deer stand set up and he would let fathers take their young sons out to use the stand. He got enjoyment out of teaching others to hunt. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Myrtle Smith; brother, Marvin Smith; and sisters, Cindy Hampton and Elizabeth Hicks all of Swartz. He is survived by daughter, Shea and husband Chad Uhrig of Rogers Arkansas; son, Dane Smith and wife Josie of Daphne Alabama; and son, Cory Smith and wife Jessica of Foley Alabama. He also leaves behind three granddaughters; Zoey Alexis Smith, Ayla Marie Smith and Kelsey Nichole Keusch. Charlie is also survived by a brother, Norwood Smith and wife Vicki of Downsville, Louisiana; and a sister, DeWanna McMillan and husband Allen of Centerville, Utah.Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 Sunday with the family until the time of service at the funeral home.Online Registry/Condolences: www.mulhearnfuneralhome.comMulhearn Funeral HomeMonroe, LA
