'Gone Fishing'Funeral mass celebrating the life of Mr. Charles C. (Sonny) Burkett, Jr., 77 of West Monroe, LA will be held at 10:00 AM Monday February 15, 2016 at the St. Paschal Catholic Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Frank Coens officiating. Interment will be in St. Paschal Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LAMr. Burkett died February 11, 2016 at the Louisiana Extended Care Hospital.Sonny was a member of the St. Paschal Catholic Church. He was a retired supervisor with Chuck Burkett Construction Company. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. Sonny enjoyed spending time with his family in the outdoors, especially white perch fishing.Survivors: his wife of 58 years, Mrs. Margaret Harris Burkett; Son, Charles C. (Chuck) Burkett, III, (Karen); Daughter, Cheryl Burkett Perkins (Ron); 5 Grandchildren, Nichole Amman, Carley Burkett, Ashley Burkett Hoyle (Sammy), Jeffrey Maroney (Kate) and Meggie Burkett Cattano (Taylor); 5 Great Grandchildren, Corree Layne Hoyle, Lyza Jane Hoyle, Cheyenne Maroney, Colton Maroney and Maddison Holifield; Sister, Althea Burkett Dayton; Brother-in-law, Robert D. Harris (Exa) and Teddy Harris (Diane); Sister-in-law, Merline Hunter (Lloyd); numerous loving nieces, nephews, and friends.Visitation will be from 4:30 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. Sunday, with a Vigil Wake service at 6:00 P.M at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LAPallbearers will be Brian Harris, Ron Perkins, Sammy Hoyle, Mario Leija, Calvin Golden, Jeffrey Maroney, Brad Hancock and Taylor Cottano.
