Funeral services for Mr. Charles Anderson Walker, 74, of Monroe, will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, May 2, 2007, at Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church, Monroe with Rev. Weldon Bares, Rev. Joe Solomon, and Rev. Buford Brady officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Mr. Walker died Sunday, April 29, 2007, at Cornerstone Hospital in West Monroe, LA. He was born to Charles B. and Lois T. Walker on February 9, 1933 in West Monroe, LA. He was a graduate of Ouachita Parish High School and of Northeast Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. He began his career at 13 years of age as a carrier boy at the News Star World and worked there until his graduation from NLU. He served in the U. S. Army and Army Reserve and was discharged as Captain. He retired from Strauss Interests of Monroe. His hobbies were bowling, hunting, and fishing. He was a charter member of Southside United Methodist, now Lea Joyner Memorial United Methodist Church, where he served in many capacities.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Hale Walker; son, Stephen Dale Walker; daughter, Beverly Anne Duchesne; and grandson, Beau Chesney Duchesne; sisters, Lillian W. Nolan, and Evelyn W. Ouchley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Beau C. Duchesne, Carl Nolan, Russell Nolan, Yancey Nolan, Joe Strickland, and Daniel Duchesne. Honorary pallbearers will be Davis Baker, J. W. Jackson, Roger Parker, and Whit Rodgers Sunday school class.
Visitation will be Tuesday, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA.
