Funeral Services Celebrating the Life of Charlene V. Hernandez, 59, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Grace Pointe Church,1905 Auburn Ave.Monroe, LA 71201, with Pastor John Wesley Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Road Monroe, LA.
Charlene Hernandez was born on April 13, 1957 to the union of Vincent and Hazel Balsamo in Monroe, LA and departed this life on Sunday, March 5, 2017. She was an active member of Grace Pointe. Char recently rededicated her life to Christ and was baptized by her nephew, Pastor Chris Ensminger. Char received her formal education in Elgin, IL. After graduation, she moved to Monroe, LA. Charlene then began her career in banking until 1999. Upon retiring, she began her present career as manager with the Monroe Housing Authority. Char was a very loving and dedicated person to all that knew her. She is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Matthew and Timothy Balsamo.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Jonathan Hernandez; her most cherished love and legacy grandson who affectionately called her “Nonnie”, Keith Hernandez; daughter, Angela Hernandez-Johnson; sisters, Geniva Avina (Sergio); Sarah Davidson; Tiny Balsamo (Jody); Anna Balsamo (Debra); brother, Gerald Balsamo (Lisa); nieces, Jennifer Avina, Ashley Hardin, Kim Ensminger, Alyssa Balsamo, and Cassie Balsamo; nephews, Sergio Avina Jr., Gary Davidson, Kenny Davidson, and Jake Balsamo; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Chris Ensminger, Kenny Davidson, Gary Davidson, Jody O’Bier, Mark Hardin, Derek Johnson, John Balsamo, Jr., and Craig LeBeau. Honorary Pallbearers will be Keith Hernandez, Jake Balsamo, and Matthew Hardin.
Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at the Grace Pointe Church in Monroe, LA.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Pointe Ministries.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Sissy Cook and Gene Matthews for all the love and kindness they have showed during her illness.
