Billy Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Kilpatrick’s Serenity Gardens cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Mrs. Burkett was born January 21, 1932, and passed away December 15, 2018. Mrs. Burkett retired as a school bus driver for Ouachita Parish after many years of service. She had a great love for the outdoors, and loved camping, hunting and even more so fishing! She would often have the kids pack a lunch in the morning before heading out to spend the day on the fishing bank. She loved her plants and could often be found gardening. Her family fondly remembers her as “The QVC Queen”, and remembers her penchant for her “earbobs “always having to match her rings and necklaces! She was always sure to keep her makeup to perfection. Her family remembers her as an awesome cook who passed that trait down to her family. More importantly, she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much and she will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Burkett was preceded in death by her husband Herbert Burkett.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Lewis; her son, Jeff Burkett; grandchildren, Kilee Lewis, Jared Burkett (Alisha), Ashley Blackmon; great grandchildren, Colby Lewis, Chloe Allen, Veronica Odom, Kirstee Burkett, and numerous great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be at 1:00 P.M. until time of service, Tuesday, December 18, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
