Memorial Services for Mrs. Carolyn Renwick Donald, 104, of Monroe, LA will be held at 11 am Thursday October 22, 2020 at Grace Episcopal Church in Monroe, LA with the Rev. Don Smith officiating. Interment will be in the church columbarium under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Carolyn Renwick Donald was born in Monroe, LA on October 29, 1915 and passed away on September 18, 2020. Mrs. Donald lived in Monroe for the first 100 years of her life, and in Charlotte, NC for the last four years to be near her granddaughters. She was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church and loved serving the church in many capacities, including on the altar guild for over 50 years and in the Christian education department as a teacher of Sunday school and confirmation classes for 50 years.
Mrs. Donald graduated from Ouachita Parish High School and attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe (formerly Northeast Louisiana University). She served her country as a civilian working at Selman Army Airfield during World War II supporting our troops, and she had a long career as a financial secretary with McGinn Finance Company. Mrs. Donald was an active member of the Monroe Garden Club and the Fort Miro DAR Chapter.
Mrs. Donald was preceded in death by her father Wiley Cook Renwick, mother Alma Brice Renwick, brothers William Percy Renwick and John Brice Renwick, sister Joyce Ivy Renwick King, nieces Dianne Entrican and Wendy Williams, husband of over 72 years Sam Donald, Jr., and daughter Virginia “Ginger” Alma Donald Tuttle.
Survivors include her sister Nell Renwick Williams of Long Beach, MS, son-in-law William “Bill” C. Tuttle of Pawleys Island, SC, granddaughter Robin Elaine Tuttle and her son Jackson “Jack” Tuttle-Luft of Charlotte, NC, granddaughter Julie Paige Tuttle and her husband Alan S. Weakley and children Rhiannon Weakley and Vanner Weakley of Chapel Hill, NC, several nieces and nephews and their families, and many friends.
Memorials may be given to Grace Episcopal Church Monroe, Biedenharn Museum and Gardens, Black Bayou Lake National Wildlife Refuge or the charity of your choice.
