Services for Carolyn Hudson Cheek (Mimi), 75, of West Monroe, will be at 10:00 AM Monday, October 4, 2010, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, with Rev. John Albright officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun.
Mrs. Cheek died Thursday, September 30, 2010, following a lengthy illness.
Carolyn was born on October 22, 1934 in Fordyce, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband, John E. Cheek; her parents, Doyle and Pauline Hudson; and her sister, Shirley Hudson DeCrane.
Survivors include daughters: Debbie Albright and husband John of Winnsboro, Shari Schuyler and husband Dwight of Columbia, MO; son: John Kevin Cheek and wife Janell of Harlan, IA; brothers: Don Hudson and wife Elizabeth of West Monroe, Mike Hudson and wife Nan of Fort Smith, AR; sister: Marilyn Ainsworth and husband Larry of Pearl, MS; mother-in-law Marie Cheek; grandchildren: Lindsey Keslar and husband Tim of Metairie, LA; Amy Trichel and husband Charles of West Monroe; Abbi Cheek of Dallas, TX; Jared and Ashley Schuyler of Columbia, MO; Joshua, Jonathan, Jocelyn, and Jonas Cheek of Harlan, IA; great-grandchild, Sarah Kate Trichel of West Monroe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolyn worked as a secretary for Crescent Drilling Company and Rosamond Drilling. After 10 years of service as an accounting specialist for Monroe Housing Authority, she retired in 1999. A woman of deep faith in Christ, she was an active member of Edgewood Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years.
Pallbearers will be Charles Trichel, Tim Keslar, Jared Schuyler, Keith Cheek, Blair Reeves, and Jim Rigal, Jr. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Rigal, Sr., Bob Baker, Dr. Walter Creekmore, and Bob Brantley.
Visitation will be at Mulhearn Funeral Home today from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and Monday from 9:00 until 10:00 AM.
The family wishes to offer special thanks to Jinnia Adams and the staff of LA Hospice and Palliative Care. Memorials may be made to Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care, Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home, and the Parkinson’s Association.
