Funeral services for Carles Leon Moody (affectionately known as “Pap”), 85, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, July 23, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with Dr. Lionel Crowell officiating. Interment will follow at St. Paschal’s Cemetery, West Monroe, LA under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home.
Mr. Moody was born December 5, 1924, in Boyle, Mississippi and passed away July 21, 2010, surrounded by his devoted family at Glenwood Hospital in West Monroe, LA. He retired from Tennessee Gas Pipeline Company as a Plant Foreman in 1984. He was a member of the American Legion, the V.F.W., and the West Monroe Moose and was a Master Mason. Mr. Moody was an avid hunter and outdoorsman.
Mr. Moody, a decorated soldier, served in World War II in the 337th Infantry 85th Division from April 1, 1944 to April 25, 1946, as a machine gunner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Hollis Moody; parents, Buster and Pearl Moody; a grandson, Benji Hatten; and a granddaughter, Pam Dubroc.
He is survived by his daughters, Dianne Dubroc and husband, Robert of Marksville, LA and Sheila Hatten and husband, Don of West Monroe, LA; as well as a special niece Melanie Sasser and husband, Chris of West Monroe, LA., grandchildren, Amanda Hatten Edge and husband, Larry of Mobile, AL, Amy Dubroc Fontenot and husband, Derek of Youngsville, LA and Jacob Hatten of West Monroe, LA; great-grandchildren, EmmaLarson Edge of Mobile, AL and Hunter Fontenot of Youngsville, LA.
Pallbearers will be Larry Edge, Derek Fontenot, Jacob Hatten, Joe Hatten, Tommy Hatten, Bill Long, Bobby Long, Rodney Moody and Chris Sasser. Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Tennessee Gas.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, July 22, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe, and from 1:00PM. until service time on Friday July 23, 2010.
