Funeral Services for Caliope N Poulos, a retired business educator will be held at First Methodist Church Winnsboro, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 10:00 AM. Fr. Eudokimos-Martin Harding, Fr. Brendan Pelphrey and Rev. Craig Beeman officiating. Interment will follow at New Winnsboro Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Winnsboro.
Miss Poulos was born in Ruston, Louisiana on April 7, 1932 and died after a brief illness on September 10, 2023 at the age of 91, in Winnsboro, Louisiana. She graduated from Winnsboro High School in 1950, Louisiana Tech University where she received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Education and North Texas State University where she received her Master’s degree in Business Education. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International since 1960, as well as many other professional business educator organizations. She was a business teacher at Crowville High School from 1955 until her retirement in 1987. Miss Poulos was also the Future Business Leaders of America sponsor for thirty-three years. With the exception of her time in college, she resided in Winnsboro, Louisiana.
Miss Poulos was a loyal member of Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Monroe. She served in various leadership positions, including church council member.
Miss Poulos loved to travel and visited forty-nine states, thirty-one countries, and six continents. She was unable to make a planned trip to visit the last U.S. State on her list, North Dakota.
Miss Poulos is survived by one sister, Nike P. Anderson of Monroe; nephews, Nick Poulos of Crowville; Frank Poulos and wife Amy of Crowville, Nick Anderson and wife Cheree of Monroe, Tom Anderson and wife Nacky of Huntington, WV; niece, Emily LaFrance and husband Billy of Georgetown, TX, and numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Nicolas Pete and Emily Limneou Poulos; brothers, Frank and Tommy Poulos; and sister, Katherine Funderburk.
Pallbearers will be her nephews Nick Poulos, Frank Poulos, Nick Anderson, Tom Anderson, and great-nephews, Andrew Anderson and James Anderson.
The Poulos Family would like to express their gratitude for the care given by sitters, Donna Hitt, Laurie Toney, Cat Brent, Mary Bess Wiggers and Norma Massey.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday, September 15, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Winnsboro. Trisagion Service will be at 6:00 PM Friday, September 15, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Winnsboro.
