Funeral services for Mr. Bruce Francis Jones, 77, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Saturday, December 11, 2021, at Jesus Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. Mike Thang’wa officiating. Interment will follow at the Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA.
Mr. Jones was born February 6, 1944, in Monroe, LA and passed away Monday, December 6, 2021, at Willis-Knighton Pierremont in Shreveport, LA. Bruce attended St. Matthews Catholic School in Monroe, LA. As a young man, he was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. Bruce furthered his education at Northeast Louisiana University where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. After graduation, he continued his education at LSU to obtain his master’s degree. In April of 1967 he joined the United States Air Force and was stationed in Charleston, South Carolina where his daughter Becky was born. After leaving the military, he moved to Shreveport and began a career in banking at First National Bank and later moved back to Monroe where he retired as an auditor from CenturyLink.
Bruce lived life to the fullest and enjoyed spending time with his loved ones. In his younger years, he was an avid scuba diver, boater, water skier, and camper. He most enjoyed the sound of the ocean, watching sunsets and moonrises from his lake house, feeding the wildlife, and listening to music. He continuously kept up with the weather and made sure that his daughter Becky knew when storms were coming. Many texts read “Take cover, Jim’s on his way!”.
Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Elizabeth Gates Jones; daughter, Becky Jones Chevalier (Joel); brothers, Vernon Jones (Mary) and David Jones; sisters, Mary Loretta Jones and Kathy Jones Cartusciello (Mike); stepsons, Brian Jones (Allison), Brad Jones (Krista) and Mike Jones (Paige); as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grandkids and a very special grand dog, Ruby.
Pallbearers will be Vernon Jones, David Jones, Joel Chevalier, Brian Jones, Brad Jones and Mike Jones.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent de Paul (ssvpusa.org), Northeast Louisiana Veterans Home (vetaffairs.la.gov) or a charity of your choice.
