Brenda Jean McNamara Yockey Layton was born on August 31, 1953 and passed peacefully from this life on October 29, 2021 at the West Monroe Guest House where she was blessed to live for the past 12 years following a stroke. Graveside Services will be held Monday, November 1, 2021 at 9:30AM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Calhoun. Mike Kellett and Daniel Dobbs will be officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, David and Eugenia Bastoe Yockey; husband, Wilburn Junior Layton, who died at the age of 30; and her 3 siblings, Patricia Cooley, Linda Sinclair, and Richard Yockey.
Brenda is survived by one son, Henry Layton of Los Angeles, CA; sister-in-law, Dee Ann Cole; and 2 brothers-in law, Charles David Layton of Heber Springs, AR and Danny Layton of Magnolia, AR.
Brenda was a lifelong member of the White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ. She loved her forever family and was especially blessed to be loved and cared for through her lifetime by special friends, Tommye Tonneson, Kristen Myers, Shirley Fields, and Beverly Dobbs who was her caregiver for the past 12 years. Her life was never easy, but she loved her friends and celebrating every holiday and well as being an avid New Orleans Saints and LSU Tiger fan. She never met a cat she didn’t love.
