Services for Mr. Bobby Gordy, age 73, of Fort Necessity, Louisiana and
The Woodlands, Texas will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 30, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Winnsboro, Louisiana with the Rev. Rex Barker officiating.   Burial will follow in the Boeuf Prairie Cemetery in Fort Necessity, Louisiana under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Winnsboro.
 
Mr. Gordy was born July 31, 1937 in Wisner, Louisiana and died Saturday, September 25, 2010 at Odyssey House in Conroe, Texas.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Butler and Florence Jones Gordy.
 
Survivors include his wife, Mary Virginia Ross Gordy, two daughters; Donna Gordy Casey and husband Leonard of The Woodlands, Texas, Dawn Gordy Graham and husband Roger of Knoxville, Tennessee; six grandchildren; Sean Patrick and Hans Scott Galle of Knoxville, Tennessee, Alaina Nichole Becnel of Belle Chasse, Louisiana, Emily Lauren Casey and Michael Chase Casey of The Woodlands, Texas and Christopher Jasson Casey and wife Autum  of College Station, Texas; special brother-in-law and friend, Thomas Marion “Tommy” Ross and wife Carol; two special nieces, Belinda Ann Ross Wiggins and husband, Doyle and Brandi Melynn Ross; two nephews, Shane Crum and wife Alicia and Terry Crum and wife Dawn; four great nephews, Chance Smith, Josh, Kacy and Adam Crum; two great nieces, Haley and Emily Crum; special friends, Chelsea Altinger of Galveston, Texas, Steven Smith of Fort Necessity, Louisiana and Francois and Chantal Terrade of Rueil Malmaison, France; numerous cousins and many friends from around the world.
 
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 29th at Mulhearn Funeral Home in Winnsboro, LA.
 
Bobby, an only child, grew up in the Fort Necessity community, enjoying childhood experiences with his many cousins who were like brothers and sisters.  He attended Fort Necessity High School, graduating in the top 5% of his class.  During his high school years he participated in baseball, basketball, was a member of the National Senior Beta Club, 4-H Club and Future Farmers of America.  In the summer of 1955 he enrolled in Louisiana Polytechnic Institute in the school of Chemical Engineering.  At the end of the summer he transferred to the University of Southwestern Louisiana where he received his B. S. Degree in January 1960.
Summers found Bobby working in the wheat fields of the mid west and for Mobil Oil Company as a Junior Engineer in the Natural Gas Processing Plant.
He served in the U. S. Marine Corps Reserves from 1956-1962.
 
Bobby began his 42 year engineering career in 1960 with Phillips Chemical company in Pasadena, Texas.  Other companies with whom Bobby was employed were Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line, U. S. Industrial Chemical Company, Kaiser Aluminum and Chemical Corporation, Amax Nickel Refining Company and Cabot Corporation.  In 1998 he was appointed European Director of Manufacturing for Cabot Corporation where he was responsible for 13 chemical plants in eight countries.  In 2001 he was appointed Global Operations Director and returned to Billerica and Boston, Massachusetts.  He retired in December 2002.
