Funeral services for Bobbie R. Osterland, 78, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 20, 2016 at North Monroe Baptist Church with Rev. Warren Eckhart and Rev. David Worthington officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.Mrs. Bobbie Rose Johnson Osterland of Monroe, passed away at St. Francis Hospital on May 15, 2016 during open heart surgery. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, who was a constant example of the strong Christian woman. At 4 ft. 11 inches, she was “small but mighty”, as some would describe her, always there with a hug, smile, or words of comfort and support for those around her. Her death leaves a hole in the heart of the Monroe/West Monroe community.Born in Alexandria, La., on Sept. 7, 1937, only child of Rose and Bob Johnson. Bobbie was a positive, joyous person who loved her family and friends, church, art, dancing, and horses. She married Raymond Osterland on Oct. 7, 1961 and their union was blessed with two lovely daughters, Jana Lea Osterland Norton, married to Mark Norton, and Tracy Ann Osterland Hanson, married to D.J. Hanson. She was an equally loving grandmother to Cole Norton, Madison Daniel, and Morgan Daniel. “Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” - Proverbs 31:28.“Miss Bobbie” as she was known to many, began teaching at Bayou Gymnastics when her daughters were young, continuing to teach for 25 years. Through her life and this ministry of teaching, she served as a positive example of God’s love towards thousands of her students and their family members over the years. Her students have said that they loved her as their teacher as children and grew to love her even more as a friend as they became adults.Bobbie was an active member in many ministries of North Monroe Baptist Church. She used her artistic talents both at the church and around the community, decorating for parties, weddings, and other activities.She is survived by sister-in-law, Mary Anne Osterland Yantis and husband John Yantis of Highland village, TX; niece, Robyn Yantis Velander of Portland, Oregon; and nephew, Thomas Yantis of Austin, TX.Pallbearers will be D.J. Hanson, Mark Norton, Richie Graeber, Jody Lofton, Jim Jenkins, and Jimmy Bonnette.
