Bobbie Rae McCarty

Funeral services for Bobbie Rae McCarty, 88, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, November 17, 2019, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, with Lindle Stewart and Don DeLukie officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. McCarty was born July 26, 1931, in Ferriday, LA, and passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2019. She grew up in Waterproof, LA. She met and married the love of her life in 1948, before moving to Monroe, LA. She started her career with Dixie Dandy which later became Safeway. She worked her way to becoming the first woman manager in the area. Bobbie was employed by Safeway for 32 years. She was devoted wife, loving mother, and proud Mamaw. Bobbie was a longtime member of New Light Baptist Church.

Mrs. McCarty was preceded in death by her son, Donald McCarty; husband, Lavelle (Buddy) McCarty; parents, Rufus and Eula Smith; two sisters, Mattie Emfinger and Maxine Rhodes; two brothers, R.S. Smith and Pollard Smith.

Survivors include son, Billy McCarty and wife Bobbie; daughter, Audrey Rae Hudnall and husband Ricky; grandchildren, Brad McCarty and wife Jamie, Brock McCarty and wife Kim, Josh Hudnall and wife Cherry, Angela Martin and husband Brian, Ashley Orlando and husband John; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

Pallbearers will be Brad McCarty, Brock McCarty, Josh Hudnall, Jimmie Rhodes, Brian Martin, and John Orlando.

Visitation will be Saturday, November 16, 2019, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA.

The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Rosemont Assisted Living and Compassus Hospice for the excellent care.
