A memorial service for Bill R. Wroten, 71, of Monroe, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 15, 2016, at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Monroe, LA. Visitation will be held prior to the service Saturday, from 1:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd.
Bill was born January 19, 1945, and resided in Haynesville, LA, during his childhood and passed away October 12, 2016, after a short illness.
Bill graduated from Haynesville High School in 1963 and was a proud member of the Golden Tornado football team. He also graduated from NLU with a degree in marketing after serving in the US Army for 4 years.
After college, Bill began a career in floor covering, mostly in sales in Houston until 1991. Then he opened Dixie Floors in Bossier City which later relocated to Shreveport, LA.
Bill was preceded in death by wife Cheryl; mother, Onna Wroten and father, Ches Wroten.
Survivors include loving wife, Glenda Grower Wroten; brother, Chester Wroten & wife Ernie; niece, Jennifer Wroten; nephews, Todd Wroten and wife Christie and John Wroten; great-nephews, Ty, Zack, and Jake Wroten; step-son, Tony Washnock and wife Mary Beth; and step-grandson, J. W. Washnock.
