Memorial services for Billy Ray Adcox, (affectionately known as Bubba by his family) of Sterlington, LA will be held at First Baptist Church, Highway 2, Sterlington, LA, 1:00 PM Friday, December 18, 2015 with Rev. Ben Hackler, Rev. J.E. Brown and Rev. Dennis Hackler officiating. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Kildare Cemetery, Kildare, TX. Billy Ray was born February 24, 1938 in Shreveport, LA and went to be with the Lord on December 12, 2015. He was a graduate of McLeod High School in McLeod, TX, class of 1957. He was retired from United Gas Pipeline and Ouachita Parish School Board. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Sterlington for 39 years, a US Army Veteran and belonged to the American Legion. He was a loving son, husband, daddy, papaw, father-in-love, brother-in-law, uncle and friend.He was preceded in death by his father, Willard Ray Adcox; mother, Leatha Adcox Roberts; and four sisters, Margarete Crozier, Maudine Blakeman, Carolyn Sue Shelton, and Brenda Joyce Green.He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Jo Rosser Adcox; son, William Jeffrey Adcox and wife June of Huffman, TX; daughter, Jennifer Ann Lilly of Sterlington, LA; four grandchildren, Hannah Rhea Whittington, Ryan Drew Whittington, William Jeffrey Adcox II, and Emma Lynne Lilly; five sister-in-law’s, Virginia Guernsey of Tyler, TX, Gay Howlett of Marshall, TX, Kathy Rosser of Longview, TX; Dot Rosser of New Boston, TX and Rosanne Hodge of Tyler, TX; three brother-in-law’s, Larry Hodge of Tyler, TX, Carol Green of Queen City, TX, C. L. Shelton of Atlanta, TX; and cousin, Bob Bowen and wife Tena of Texarkana, AR.The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 1:00 PM Friday, December 18, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Sterlington.In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to First Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 725, Sterlington, LA, 71280 or the American Cancer Society.
