Memorial service for Billy Edmondson, 94, of Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, December 31, 2015 at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 1901 Milton Street in Monroe, with Rev. John Mabray officiating. Visitation will be at 12:00 o’clock in the church parlor prior to service.Mr. Edmondson was born November 10, 1921 in Magee, MS and passed away December 28, 2015 following a brief illness.He was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine Marcus Edmondson; father, Luther V. Edmondson; and mother, Addie M. “Ann” Jones of Oak Grove, LA.Mr. Edmondson was a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a charter member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, the Monroe Jaycees and Barack Shrine Temple. He was a 32nd degree mason in Graham Surghnor Lodge 383. He was also past president of Jr. Chamber of Commerce and the Lotus Club of Monroe.A veteran of World War II, he was a flight instructor of B-17 bombers, stationed in Valdosta, GA and Sebring, FL. He entered the Army Air Corp in 1942 and discharged in 1952. He was in the brick business for 50 years before retiring. He also taught AARP Safe Driving for almost 10 years.Survivors include his son, Bill Edmondson and wife Judy; daughter, Ann Peters; grandchildren, John Peters, Amy Simmermaker (Clint), Brian Edmondson and Ellen Baker (John); great grandchildren, Garrett Peters, Grace Peters, Mack Simmermaker, Alex and William Baker; and stepdaughters, Nancy Shew and Andrea Gay.The family would like to thank the staff of St. Joseph’s Assisted Living for their care.
