Billie Jean Parker

Funeral service for Mrs. Billie Jean Parker, 81, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00AM Thursday, November 21, 2024, at New Light Baptist Church with Rev. Lindle Stewart officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00PM until 7:00PM Wednesday at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.

“Jean” Parker was born on March 20, 1943. She grew up in Crowville and resided in Monroe throughout her adult life. She passed away on November 16, 2024 surrounded by family. She is now home in heaven with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Mrs. Jean was an exceptional lady.

In her spiritual life, she was active member of New Light Baptist Church in Monroe for nearly fifty years. There she taught Sunday School, VBS, Royal Ambassadors, and served on several committees.

Professionally, she worked and retired from ULM after thirty-two years as the property manager. Additionally, she was called to serve on numerous long-range planning, operations, and search committees.

In her personal life, she served as the Den Mother of the award-winning Pack 210 where she had profound impact on many scouts. Over the years, she willingly and lovingly opened her home. Whether a short-term visitor or long-term guest, all who entered her home felt most welcome. She was a veracious reader, gifted gardener, and had a great interest in Genealogy Research. But most of all, she loved spending her days with dear friends and her family. Especially, her husband, friend, and soulmate Carl who she was married to for sixty years.

Mrs. Parker was preceded in death by her parents, Peyton and Helen Graham; brother, Larry Graham; and brother-in-law, Jerry Gurie.

Survivors include her husband, Carl Parker; two sons, Kevin Parker and his wife Cheryl; Keith Parker and his wife Nicole; grandchildren, Tyler Parker, Seth Parker, Owen Connolly, Jackson Parker, and Lily Parker; great grandchildren, Luke Parker and Lorelei Parker; and sister, Jimmie Lee Gurie.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Gurie, Vance Graham, Tyler Parker, Seth Parker, Owen Connolly, and Jackson Parker. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Pierce, Daryl Ramsey, Jason Gurie, Eric Parker, Steven Hornsby, Glen Killian, and Kenny Killian.

Memorials may be made to New Light Baptist Church in Monroe.
